Aladdin had his cave of wonders. I had my family’s set of World Book Encyclopedias. They were no less a magical treasure to me. My family was not wealthy, so I’m not sure what convinced them to buy the set back in 1977 with the two volume dictionary and each yearly additional volume butI am forever grateful that they did. As a boy with endless, boundless curiosity, I loved the excitement of encountering something new, learning something previously unknown to me before. The world always became bigger.
